Nicholas Evans was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.
He read law at Oxford University and then worked as a reporter on the
Newcastle Evening Chronicle. He moved to London Weekend Television, working
as a producer making documentaries about David Hockney, Francis Bacon
and David Lean. Lean became a friend and mentor and encouraged Evans to
leave LWT and switch from fact to fiction.
His first novel The Horse Whisperer was published in 1995 and has sold
more than 15 million copies worldwide and been translated into 36 languages.
It is now also a film starring and directed by Robert Redford. Nicholas
Evans is also the author of The Loop and The Smoke Jumper which are
both published by Corgi and available in paperback. He lives in Devon
and London.
