August is the perfect month for kicking back, relaxing and of course, getting stuck into a good book.

Read James Fergusson’s The Taliban to discover more about the group of Afghan religious students who formed the organization in 1994 and whose actions continue to dominate the news today.

Or try Kate Atkinson’s newest book Started Early, Took My Dog, where a Faustian pact transforms humdrum into hectic in Leeds.

Delve into the murky world of the cocaine industry in Frederick Forsyth’s The Cobra, where Paul Devereaux is the ex-CIA officer tasked with halting the multi-billion dollar trade. The drug cartels find themselves battling a man who will stop at nothing to destroy the system.

Whether holidaying at home or heading abroad, be sure to have something sensational to read this month.
